Made by hand — and only by hand
There is no machine that makes real putharekulu. Each sheet is layered from a wet rice-paste film by a maker who has trained for years. We work with families in the Atreyapuram cluster of East Godavari district, where this craft has lived for generations.
How to enjoy putharekulu
Eat them at room temperature; never refrigerate (they go soggy). The sheet should crack delicately on the first bite, then the jaggery or sugar centre takes over. Best paired with a strong filter coffee — the sweetness needs the bitter contrast.
