Sugar Dry Fruit Putharekulu is the celebratory, fair-skinned cousin of the jaggery version — gossamer rice sheets brushed with pure cow ghee and layered with fine powdered sugar and a generous scatter of crushed cashews, almonds, and pistachios. Each pack of 10 is a study in lightness: delicate, fragrant, and almost weightless until the dry fruits land on the tongue.
Atreyapuram, In Its Lighter Avatar
Putharekulu is a Geographical Indication sweet from Atreyapuram in East Godavari, made by rolling thin rice batter on a hot inverted pan and lifting it off as edible paper. The sugar version is the one most often served at weddings and family functions — its pale gold colour and gentler sweetness make it especially welcome on celebratory plates. Our family has worked this technique for four generations.
Sugar, Ghee, And Real Dry Fruits
We layer each sheet with pure cow ghee, finely powdered sugar, and a hand-crushed mix of cashews, almonds, and pistachios. No artificial colour, no preservatives, no maida. The cleaner sweetness of the sugar lets the dry fruits and ghee come through more clearly than in the jaggery version.
