Vellulli Pickle
Garlic cloves slow-pickled until soft and mellow — pungent comfort. Sun-cured the old-fashioned way, slow-tempered in cold-pressed sesame oil, and bottled by hand in our village kitchen. Best enjoyed with hot rice and a generous spoon of ghee.
Authentic Vellulli Pickle
Vellulli Pickle is comfort in clove form — whole garlic cloves slow-pickled in cold-pressed sesame oil until they soften into mellow, almost-sweet pearls of flavour. Our Vellulli Pickle is handcrafted in Tanuku using a four-generation family recipe, balancing garlic's pungent bite with tamarind's tang and Guntur red chilli's warmth. It is the kind of pickle that turns a quiet bowl of rice into something deeply satisfying.
What makes our Vellulli Pickle special
We peel each garlic clove by hand and slow-cure them whole — never crushed — so they keep their shape and absorb the masala fully. The hand-pounded masala of mustard, fenugreek, Guntur red chilli powder and tamarind is folded in gently, then everything rests in cold-pressed sesame oil. Over days, the Vellulli Pickle mellows beautifully — the garlic softens, the heat rounds out and the oil turns into liquid gold.
Flavour profile & experience
Bite into a clove and the first wave is pungent garlic — sharp, deep, unmistakable — followed by tamarind's tang and the slow warmth of red chilli. The slow cure transforms raw garlic's aggression into a mellow, almost buttery softness. Cold-pressed sesame oil rounds every spoonful with nutty richness. Vellulli Pickle is bold yet comforting — pungent without being harsh, intense without being tiring.
How to enjoy Vellulli Pickle
A clove of Vellulli Pickle alongside hot rice and ghee is the classic Andhra winter meal. It also pairs beautifully with curd rice, dal-rice and pongal. Spread the oil and masala on dosa or idli, fold it into khichdi, or serve it with phulkas. Garlic lovers eat the cloves straight off the spoon — and we cannot blame them.
