Tamota Pickle
Sun-ripened tomatoes simmered with garlic, chilli and sesame oil. Sun-cured the old-fashioned way, slow-tempered in cold-pressed sesame oil, and bottled by hand in our village kitchen. Best enjoyed with hot rice and a generous spoon of ghee.
Authentic Tamota Pickle
Tamota Pickle is the Andhra answer to comfort food — sun-ripened tomatoes slow-simmered with garlic, red chilli and tamarind until they collapse into a glossy, deeply savoury pachadi. Our Tamota Pickle is handcrafted in our Tanuku village kitchen using a four-generation family recipe, finished with cold-pressed sesame oil and hand-pounded masala. It is the pickle that disappears fastest from any jar, regardless of who is at the table.
What makes our Tamota Pickle special
We use ripe, red, full-flavoured tomatoes that we cook down slowly with garlic, Guntur red chilli powder, tamarind and rock salt in cold-pressed sesame oil. The masala — mustard, fenugreek and asafoetida — is hand-pounded on a stone grinder for that unmistakable village-kitchen depth. Our Tamota Pickle is patient, not hurried; the tomatoes reduce until their natural sugars caramelise into a sticky, jammy richness.
Flavour profile & experience
Expect a sweet-tart tomato base that opens the bite, followed by the deep warmth of garlic, the slow burn of red chilli and a savoury anchor from mustard and fenugreek. Cold-pressed sesame oil binds everything with a nutty, lingering finish. Tamota Pickle is comforting and crowd-pleasing — tangy enough to brighten rice, savoury enough to eat with a spoon when no one is watching.
How to enjoy Tamota Pickle
Spoon Tamota Pickle over hot rice with ghee, mix it into curd rice, or serve it on a thali alongside sambar and rasam. It works beautifully with idli, dosa, pongal and upma, and is a sandwich spread waiting to happen. Travellers love it with phulkas and parathas — a jar-sized taste of Andhra in any lunchbox.
