Korameenu Fish Pickle
Prized korameenu fish in a slow-simmered Andhra spice base. Sun-cured the old-fashioned way, slow-tempered in cold-pressed sesame oil, and bottled by hand in our village kitchen. Best enjoyed with hot rice and a generous spoon of ghee.
Authentic Korameenu Fish Pickle
Korameenu Fish Pickle celebrates one of Andhra's most prized freshwater fish — firm, meaty korameenu slow-simmered in a deep Andhra spice base until the masala wraps every flake. Made in Tanuku by our 4-generation family using hand-pounded spices and cold-pressed sesame oil, our Korameenu Fish Pickle is the kind of jar that turns an ordinary meal into a Sunday feast.
What makes our Korameenu Fish Pickle different
Korameenu has firm, white flesh that rewards slow cooking — and that is exactly how we treat it. The fish is gently cleaned, then folded into a masala hand-pounded on a stone grinder and bloomed in cold-pressed gingelly oil. Tamarind, garlic and Andhra chilli build the body of the Korameenu Fish Pickle, while mustard tempering finishes it with a clean, pungent lift.
Flavour profile & experience
The first bite opens with bright tamarind, settles into a slow Andhra chilli warmth, and ends with the unmistakable richness of korameenu carried by nutty sesame oil. Garlic and curry leaves thread through every spoon, while fenugreek adds a quiet, grown-up depth. Each piece holds its shape — a sign of true slow-cooked pickling.
How to enjoy Korameenu Fish Pickle
Serve a generous spoon of Korameenu Fish Pickle over hot rice with ghee — the way Andhra grandmothers intended. Pair with curd rice to balance the heat, fold into biryani for a Sunday upgrade, or eat with dosa, idli or hot phulkas when the craving hits between meals.
