Karivepaku Pickle
Curry-leaf pickle with deep, herbal warmth — pairs beautifully with idli. Sun-cured the old-fashioned way, slow-tempered in cold-pressed sesame oil, and bottled by hand in our village kitchen. Best enjoyed with hot rice and a generous spoon of ghee.
Authentic Karivepaku Pickle
Karivepaku Pickle is Andhra's love letter to the curry leaf. Where most cuisines treat curry leaves as a tempering afterthought, our Karivepaku Pickle places them centre-stage — sun-dried, hand-ground with tamarind, garlic and red chilli, and slow-cooked in cold-pressed sesame oil until the leaves release their full, earthy fragrance. Made in our Tanuku village kitchen by a four-generation family, it is herbal warmth in a jar.
What makes our Karivepaku Pickle special
We use only fresh, deep-green curry leaves, gently sun-dried to concentrate their oils. They are then hand-pounded on a stone grinder with tamarind, Guntur red chilli powder, garlic, mustard and fenugreek. A slow simmer in cold-pressed sesame oil binds the masala into a dark, glossy paste. Our Karivepaku Pickle smells of forest and home all at once — an aroma that wakes the entire kitchen.
Flavour profile & experience
Expect a deep, almost smoky herbal warmth from the curry leaves, balanced by tamarind's mellow sourness and the steady heat of red chilli. Garlic and mustard add savoury punch, while sesame oil gives the Karivepaku Pickle its signature nutty roundness. It is less aggressive than mango or chilli pickles — more grounding, more comforting, the kind of flavour you crave on quiet weekday evenings.
How to enjoy Karivepaku Pickle
Karivepaku Pickle is famously brilliant with idli and dosa — a small spoonful alongside coconut chutney is a South Indian breakfast upgrade. It also shines on hot rice with ghee, in curd rice, or smeared into a phulka roll. Try it as a sandwich spread or alongside upma and pongal for a fragrant, herbal lift.
