Idly Karam
Roasted-lentil idli powder — toss with sesame oil for breakfast bliss. Sun-cured the old-fashioned way, slow-tempered in cold-pressed sesame oil, and bottled by hand in our village kitchen. Best enjoyed with hot rice and a generous spoon of ghee.
Authentic Idly Karam
The original Andhra Gunpowder — Idly Karam. A bold blend of slow-roasted lentils, sun-dried Guntur chillies and fresh garlic, ground in small batches and packed warm. Mix into a spoon of sesame oil and your breakfast just got an upgrade.
What goes into our Idly Karam
Whole urad, channa and toor dal — roasted in a kadai until just golden. Guntur Sannam red chillies, sun-dried then dry-roasted to wake the heat. Fresh garlic, curry leaves added last for aroma. No oil in the powder, no fillers, no commercial chilli colour.
How to enjoy
Stir a tablespoon into sesame oil and dab over hot idli or dosa. Sprinkle on upma. Mix into hot rice with ghee for a 5-minute meal. Travels well — every Andhra home keeps a jar in the kitchen and another for the suitcase.
